About Guru-




Pradip’s father and Guru, Pt. Satya Narayan Singhji, took his initial training in Music at Gupta Sangeetalalya, Varanasi.  During these years he was enchanted and obsessed by the Patiala Gharana. He first became a disciple of Pandit Kundanlalji Sharma of the Patiala Gharana.

Subsequently he became a disciple of Late Ustad Abdul Rehman Khansaheb of the Patiala Gharana and learnt from Khansaheb Classical Music as well as Light Classical Music.  He also studied Light Classical Music from Late Ustad Bashir Khan of Lucknow. 

 

Late Guruji Pt. Satya Narayan Singhji had founded an institution known as “SAT SWAR MANDIR” and was the heart and soul of this institution.  The institution was renamed after him and is now known as “PT. SATYA NARAYAN SINGH MUSIC ACADEMY”. Guruji had, over the years made sincere efforts to promote and enrich our cultural heritage of Indian Music.  Guruji had molded many artists in Indian and Light Classical Music.

 

Guruji Pt. Satya Narayan Singhji’s two other sons Shyam and Pratap have followed the tradition and footsteps of their father. They run the academy and believe that due to the blessing of Late Guruji, the Academy has slowly and steadily progressed as an institution of repute in the music field.  The brothers at Pt. Satya Narayan Singh Music Academy take on the opportunity to pay their humble homage to their late father and Guru.

 

Guruji’s eldest son Shyam Narayan Singh, who has been completely trained in all aspects of music, gives his utmost for the well being of his students.

 

Guruji’s younger son Pratap Narayan Singh is an extremely talented Tabla player.  He shares his enthusiasm with his many ardent students.

 

They have also given music for various Albums like pop and bhajan under the name of “SINGH BROTHERS”.

Some of the recent albums include–KAISE KAHOON(nominated for best pop album in sahara sangeet award) and VINATI .

It is indeed an uphill task to keep up a tradition in and ever changing modern world such as ours.  But the Singh Brothers continue to work hard to cherish, maintain and build what is ultimately the only thing of real value.
